OKLAHOMA CITY – With the 2015 legislative session less than two months away, the Oklahoma House’s committee leadership structure is taking shape.
Today it was announced that Rep. Mike Sanders will again serve as chairman of the Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee on Transportation. He served the previous two years in this position.
“This is very much a great honor to be named to head up this subcommittee for another two years,” saidSanders, R-Kingfisher. “I am very thankful House Speaker Jeff Hickman chose to keep me in this position and I will put all of my energy and effort into once again tackling issues surrounding our state’s transportation network.”
As chairman of this subcommittee, Sanders will oversee scheduling committee meetings and making decisions on what bills will be heard in meetings.
“This is a very powerful subcommittee,” Sanders said. “Matters related to improving and maintaining our state’s vast transportation network is vital to us all. Whether you’re driving to work or to the store, what happens in this subcommittee directly impacts all Oklahomans because we all use these bridges and roads – which must be kept in satisfactory condition. This subcommittee will have oversight on the Department of Transportation’s budget as well as ensuring money goes to the projects that are most in need to be completed.”
The new legislative session begins Feb. 2, 2015.
