OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Mike Sanders said today that a Friday memorial dedication in Vici will honor Charles “Chub” Shaw.
House Bill 3018 renamed a portion of State Highway 60 that runs through Vici as the Charles “Chub” Shaw Memorial Highway.
“The purpose of this was to show our gratitude to Mr. Shaw and his wonderful family,” said Sanders, R-Kingfisher. “Mr. Shaw, known by most as Chub, was a highly successful businessman who was respected in the funeral industry and an active community leader in Vici. He had his hand in everything and his love for Northwest Oklahoma was evident. Mr. Shaw followed and participated in discussions of water policy in our state. I was very fortunate to know him and work with him on policy questions. He has been gone for over two years now but his legacy and memory lives on.”
The memorial dedication will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, on the east side of Vici near the Welcome to Vici sign. Following that there will be a reception with friends and family.
