Sanders Criticizes Supreme Court Decision

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Mike Sanders today criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the federal health care law.

“The health care law is an utter disaster for families, small businesses and employers and especially for seniors and will result in the largest tax increase in American history,” said Sanders, R-Kingfisher. “The law means a future of higher costs, fewer choices and less control over our personal health care decisions. It is amazing to me that the Supreme Court would uphold a law requiring all Americans to buy health insurance. This gives the government unprecedented, sweeping power over its citizens, as long as it includes some form of a tax. I am angered by the decision.”

Sanders said the federal health care law creates a new, unsustainable entitlement.

“Republicans are not opposed to sustainable fixes to our health care industry,” said Sanders. “We simply cannot support unlimited governmental power nor unsustainable, irresponsible spending. This law will not solve the problems of our health care system, but instead make it worse.”
