Rep. Sanders Receives Remaining Committee Assignments

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Mike Sanders, who was appointed in December to chair the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, today announced he will also serve on the House Agriculture and Wildlife Committee, the Appropriations and Budget Committee and the House Energy and Aerospace Committee.

“I am honored to serve on committees that oversee energy and agricultural policy, as these industries are vital to Western Oklahoma, but I am most excited about the role I will have in overseeing transportation spending,” said Sanders, R-Kingfisher. “In recent years, lawmakers have increased the pace of updating our long-neglected road and bridge infrastructure. As chairman of the committee that oversees transportation appropriations, I will be in charge of ensuring all related legislation is properly vetted and improved upon before it reaches the full House for a vote.”

In the 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions, Sanders served as vice chair of the House Human Services Committee.

“My vice chair position helped to prepare me for my current chairmanship,” said Sanders. “The human services committee worked hard last session on the DHS reform package. I was proud of what was accomplished. I look forward to ensuring that the budget subcommittee that I am now chairing runs as smoothly.”

Lawmakers are currently in the process of drafting legislation, which must be filed by Jan. 17, 2013. The legislative session begins Feb. 4, 2013.
