Prayers for Tornado Victims, Praise for Fallen Soldiers

By State Rep. Mike Sanders

The victims, survivors and their families who have been impacted by the May 19 and May 20 tornadoes are weighing heavy on my heart and mind, especially the young children who lost their lives. As a parent, I can think of nothing more heartbreaking than the loss of a child. Please keep these Oklahomans in your thoughts and prayers and consider making a donation to a local organization or church participating in the recovery efforts or a blood donation to help the hospitals that are scrambling to take care of a large new group of patients.

Oklahomans have a tendency to pull together in times like these. We have endured many tragedies over the years and have always worked hard on behalf of neighbors and friends to rebuild. This time will be no different. The Oklahoma Spirit will get us through.

In closing, as Memorial Day is upon us, I want to begin by praising and thanking those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf and those veterans who live among us for their service. I also want to thank the brave men and women who continue to serve. In today’s world that is so full of conflict, their efforts are needed more than ever.

I also want to thank the families of the men and women who have served and who continue to serve our country. They make the sacrifice of time with their loved ones.

Today, our troops are working to stabilize countries that will otherwise become the breeding ground for America’s enemies tomorrow. Their efforts will lead not only to our protection, but to the protection of future generations of Americans.

As always, I would love to hear from you. During the upcoming legislative interim I will be traveling the district, but will regularly check the calls I receive at the Capitol office at (405) 557-7407.
