OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Mike Sanders received the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Meritorious Service Award during the annual OFB Leadership Conference in Oklahoma City, Feb. 20.
Nominated by Major County Farm Bureau, Sanders is respected for keeping his constituents informed on important legislative topics and is a regular attendee of Major County FB’s local forum. He authored HB 2973 to establish the process of decommissioning wind turbines and setting up safeguards to protect landowners from wind companies. He also authored an OFB-supported annexation bill that made it illegal for a city to enforce its ordinances an agricultural land of more than 40 acres.
Sanders represents Oklahoma House District 59 and serves as assistant majority whip. He is a former deputy chief of staff for rural development for the United States Department of Agriculture. He and his wife reside in Kingfisher with their two sons.
