Contract Awarded for Road Improvement in Dewey County

OKLAHOMA CITY – A contract was awarded this month for road improvements in Dewey County, Sen. Bryce Marlatt and Rep. Mike Sanders recently announced.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the project will involve adding two new lanes to US-270 at the SH-51 east junction as well as realigning the junction to a “T” formation to improve visibility.

Marlatt (R-Woodward) said the State Transportation Commission awarded a contract worth just over $3.4 million on the project to the Haskell Lemon Construction Company. The Oklahoma City company was the lowest of four bidders for the job, noted Sanders (R-Kingfisher).

“Public safety is a high priority regarding this dangerous stretch of highway. Our commitment to repairing roads and bridges in the state remains a priority,” said Sanders.

Once construction begins, the project is estimated to be completed within eight months.
